Outside Reed Space, Jeff Staple's store on New York's Lower East Side, the crowd waiting for the Nike SB Dunk Low Staple NYC Pigeon got so restless that the police had to step in. Only 150 pairs existed, and the next day the story was in the city's newspapers. Ever since, the pigeon, a permanent fixture of New York's sidewalks, has been Staple's symbol.

Twelve years later the designer brought his most famous bird back to life with the Black Pigeon, released in November 2017: a black nubuck upper, a pigeon embroidered on the heel and a Sienna outsole. This pair also carries Staple's own autograph, the detail that turns an already historic Dunk into a truly personal keepsake.
