Nike Mind: when neuroscience meets footwear
Nike Mind is born from the intersection of scientific research, design, and sensory perception. The project represents one of the most unique experiments developed by Nike in recent years and introduces a different way of thinking about the relationship between shoe, foot, and movement.
The platform was developed by the Nike Mind Science Department after over ten years of research into the connection between body and mind. At the heart of the project is a technology designed to increase the stimuli perceived through the sole of the foot while walking.

Nike Mind 002: Mind technology in a sneaker
The Nike Mind 002 uses the same sensory platform as the Mind 001 through a construction closer to that of a traditional sneaker.
The upper wraps around the foot more securely and the lace closure allows it to remain more stable on the sensory surface, while the general setup makes the 002 more like a shoe to be worn compared to the mule structure of the Mind 001.
The two silhouettes therefore share the same philosophy but offer different experiences: the Mind 001 favors a simple and immediate slip-on structure, while the Mind 002 offers a more complete and supportive construction.
How Nike Mind technology works
The heart of Nike Mind is found under the foot.
Each shoe uses 22 independent foam pressure points, designed to move vertically while walking. These elements interact with the sole of the foot and increase the amount of sensory information perceived during movement.
Nike developed the technology through its Mind Science Department by studying the relationship between foot stimulation, perception, and activity in the sensory areas of the brain.
The goal is not to make the shoe faster or to directly increase athletic performance in the traditional sense, but to create an experience designed to increase awareness of sensations coming from the body and the surrounding environment.

In 2026, Hiroshi Fujiwara reinterpreted the Nike Mind platform through Fragment Concept Testing, bringing his own design language to the Mind 001 and Mind 002 silhouettes.
The collaboration places Nike Mind within the long creative relationship between Nike and Fragment, using an experimental aesthetic consistent with the technological nature of the project.
The Nike Mind 001 Fragment Black represents one of the most sought-after interpretations of the silhouette and connects the new Mind universe to the history of Nike's collaborations with Hiroshi Fujiwara.

Nike Mind for men and women
Nike Mind 001 and Mind 002 are made in men’s and women’s size ranges, with numerous colorways available in different sizes.
The choice between the two models depends primarily on the type of construction desired. The Mind 001 uses an open, slip-on structure, while the Mind 002 wraps around the foot more and features a configuration closer to that of a traditional sneaker.
